Ordering the Right Number of Save the Date Magnets

You might be asking yourself How many magnets should I order? Our article Who Receives Save the Date Cards might be a good place to start.
When determining how many Save the Date magnets to order, be sure to take into account that most guests are couples, which means that you will only need to send one magnet per household. However, ordering more than you think you’ll need will save you the time and effort of placing another order if you find that you’ve come up short. Remember, last minute additions to your guest list are always a possibility.
You may also consider any extra magnets as valued mementoes of your special day – you’ll want to keep a few extra on hand for yourself and your closest friends and relatives. Save the Date magnets are the first tangible announcement of your wedding date, which means you’ll treasure them for years to come.
Flash Moments sells magnets in multiples of 25, so when you have determined how many magnets you’ll need, you should round up to the next quantity of 25.
Many times, parents and other close family members will add guests to the list after you’ve already made your decisions about who will and won’t be invited to your wedding. If this is a possibility with your family, we recommend ordering an additional 25 magnets – if you need to order 25 additional magnets after you have already received your order, it will delay your Save the Date Magnet mailing by a few weeks.
You should send one magnet for each of the following:
- Married couples, Couples living together
- Each family with children
- Each child over 18 living with their parents
- Each unmarried guest
- Each person in your wedding party
- Your officiant and their spouse
Every guest list is different, but this is a good place to start. Depending on the situation, roommates not living together as a couple should each receive their own magnet.
If you are just starting out with your guest list, you can easily determine the number of magnets to order by using a simple formula. Take the number of allowable guests within your budget (we’ll say 100), cut that number in half (since most guests will be couples), and then add 25 for single guests and last-minute additions. Using that basic formula, you should order 75 magnets.
As your wedding date nears, be sure to also send a formal invitation to the guests who received a Save the Date Card or Magnet. If someone is saving your date, they should definitely receive an invitation to your wedding.
