When do I send Save the Date Cards and Magnets?
Family and Friends are probably already asking you when the big date is so they can mark their calendars. People like to know your wedding date as far in advance as possible, especially if they will have to make travel arrangements to attend. Guests will be more likely to attend if they have time to make travel plans.
Once you have decided on the perfect Save the Date magnet style to fit your wedding, we recommend that you allow 2 weeks to order and receive your personalized Save the Date Magnets. Give yourself 1-2 weeks to address, stuff, and stamp the envelopes.
Generally, Save the Date Magnets are sent 3-8 months in advance of your wedding date. Don’t order your Save the Date Magnets until you have confirmed your wedding date and location.
If your guests live nearby the wedding location, we recommend mailing your Save the Date Magnets 3-6 months in advance. This will give your friends and family plenty of time to request time off of work and arrange childcare.
Out-of-Town Guests
To give your guests enough time to plan and book their travel and lodging, mail your Save the Date Magnets 4-8 months before your wedding date.
Out-of-Country Guests
If your guests will be joining you from another country, allow 6 months to 1 year for them to arrange Visas, passports, overseas flights, and lodging. They have a lot to plan before your wedding, so out-of-country guests will appreciate a Save the Date magnet as far in advance as possible.
Getaway Weddings

If you are planning a getaway wedding (a wedding in a vacation setting), or if you are getting married on a busy holiday weekend (such as July 4th), you should mail your Save the Date magnets as far in advance as possible. We recommend 6 months to 1 year, as it will give your guests time to arrange their passports, time off work, childcare, flights, and hotels.
