To Whom Should I Send Save the Date Cards & Magnets?

Making the guest list is one of the hardest steps in wedding planning. Once you have decided on the size of your wedding and budget, you can begin paring down the list until you have the right number of guests.
You might not need to send a Save the Date Magnet to each guest, but you should send a magnet to the guests who are traveling to attend your wedding, or those with very busy schedules.
If you’re planning a destination wedding, or a wedding that spans a long holiday weekend, you should send your guests a Save the Date Magnet as far in advance as possible (see our When to Send Save the Date Magnets article).
You may not need to send Save the Date announcements to every single guest if you are having a local wedding with local guests.
If your wedding will be close to your home, you probably won’t need to send a Save the Date Magnet to each guest – just the few who are visiting from out-of-town or people who need extra time to organize time off work, childcare, or juggle other social obligations.
As your wedding date nears, be sure to also send a formal invitation to the guests who received a Save the Date Card or Magnet. While it is not a requirement, some guests will let you know if they can attend your wedding when they receive the Save the Date announcement. If the guest has already declined, it is for you to decide if you should also send a formal invitation. You might just opt to send a post-wedding announcement to a guest who has declined based on your Save the Date.
